Club coach to host 24-hour tennis event

- ALICE WARNER hinckleytimes@trinitymirror.com

AFTER winning Leicestershire Coach of the Year, Hinckley Town Tennis Club’s Head Coach, Chris Bint has decided to host a 24-hour ‘Tennisation’ to raise money for the club’s much needed improvements.

As another successful year passes, Hinckley Town have scooped a massive nine county league awards and were runner up in the Club of the Year.

The club have also enjoyed success at a junior level. The under nine team won the highest division of the winter league with a member of the team also becoming the County Under Nine Girls Champion.

Chris Bint and his assistant coach Jack Ganley, will be playing tennis for 24-hours straight from 12.30pm on Saturday May 6, until 12.30pm on Sunday May 7, taking on members to raise funds for club improvements.

Hinckley Town Tennis Club only has four outdoor courts and one old and rickety clubhouse.

Members of the club will also be running a whole host of fundraising events alongside the ‘Tennisation’. Everyone from tots to teens to veterans can get involved in these activities and challenges.

This will be the largest fund raising event the club have ever attempted.

As the 24-hour event concludes, the club will be hosting an open day from 1pm until 4pm on Sunday May 7, for anyone who is keen and interested in tennis, to pick up a racket and have a go.

There will be a family court for everyone to test their skills, and one court set up for visitors to play against a ball machine.

There is set to be plenty of activities for all ages, and a barbeque, raffle, tombola and even a cake stand, so there will be something for everyone.

A spokesman said: “So, do come along and enjoy a fun filled afternoon at Hinckley Town Tennis Club.”

Several teenage players regularly help out and will gain their coaching qualifications as soon as they are of age.

Another of the club’s regular young coaches has been in Australian since September, working as a level two coach at the age of just 18, so being a part of the club brings with it some amazing opportunities.

There is always room for more at the club and they are now keen to attract more junior members.

The club will be running a free six week Tennis for Kids course for children aged six to eight years, which will commence on Tuesday May 2 and conclude on Tuesday June 6, sessions will run from 5.30pm until 6.30pm.

You are able to sign up online at clubspark.its.org. uk or call Chris Bint on 07843 935481.

The spokesman added: “The club is a great experience for everyone. But you must get in touch as soon as possible because places are filling up very fast!”
