Double victory for netballers

-

TWO netball teams from the Dixie Grammar School in Market Bosworth lifted trophies at an invitational tournament in Hinckley.

Both the Dixie’s Under 13 (Year 8) and Under 14 (Year 9) teams played their way to victory at the Hinckley Ladies Junior Schools Invitational Tournament hosted by Hinckley Ladies Netball Club.

Each of them won all their matches against teams from Hinckley’s Hastings and Redmoor, Earl Shilton’s Heath Lane Academy and Stoke Golding’s St Martin’s schools to win the tournament titles.

In addition, the Dixie’s Under 12 (Year 7) team came runner-up in their competition, losing by just one goal to their counterparts from St Martin’s.

U12 team member Erin Hurst was named Dixie player of the tournament.

The Dixie’s head of girls’ PE, Denise Ibbetson, said: “This is a fantastic tournament to be part of and I am proud of the manner in which our girls approached it and to see them using their skills and training to such good effect.”

Hinckley Ladies coach Bex Oldfield said she was particularly impressed with the level of play of the winning Year 8 team.
