Special day to love our town market on Saturday

-

HINCKLEY’S beloved and historic market has been part of the town for more than 700 years - and residents are invited to celebrate its popularity this weekend.

On Saturday, the town centre will be hosting a series of family fun events for Love Hinckley Market, which is being held as part of Love Your Market fortnight.

From 10am until 4pm, residents can enjoy family-friendly activities and entertainment to highlight what the town’s mar- ket has on offer.

Events include a market explorer trail for children, where kids can hunt out 20 different varieties of produce at the fruit and vegetable markets for a prize, and a giant slide.

There will also be a Punch and Judy show held on Castle Street, opposite Tina’s Sweet Dreams, and free face painting by Crazy Faces.

For a more chilled out vibe, residents can enjoy the Music in the Mead session at the Argents Mead bandstand, where there will be live music from Little Boy Blue.

John Coward, assistant town centre manager, said: “There will be a full market taking place and all sorts of fun for the family and children. “The market is a fundamental part of our town, and for more than 700 years it’s been there in various forms, and it’s still popular today.

“Considering all the changes that have happened over the last decade, Hinckley has fared really well, and there’s still a very strong offering from our market. One we are proud of.

“The main focus for this weekend will be on our market and trying to encourage people to visit and see what’s on offer.

“It’s an opportunity for our market to showcase what they have.”

As well as the events, there will also be 500 special cotton tote bags given away with market purchases over £3, subject to availability.
