Take a deep breath and discover your inner zen

- SAM HADADI hinckleytimes@trinitymirror.com

RESIDENTS feeling frazzled, stressed or in need of some relaxation are being invited to become masters of calm thanks to Hinckley’s very own Feel Good Sunday.

The one-day event, run by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and the Leisure Centre, will be held in Argents Mead on Sunday from May 14 from 11am to 2pm.

The family event is free to attend and will give all residents the chance to feel Zen and at one with themselves.

It includes relaxing play sessions for children, an art zone including mindfulness colouring, and a complimentary therapy zone.

Taster sessions will be available in Reiki, meditation, Indian head massage and hypnotherapy. There will also be Tai Chi demos by Rebecca Blower.

Other sessions open to residents include a class in Pilates for back pain, which runs from 11am to 11.45am, baby massage from noon to 12.45pm, and Pilates from 1pm to 1.45pm.

There will also be free parking available at any council car park on the day, while an Irish folk singer will be playing in the Bandstand.

Zoe Knight, who will be running the Relax Kids sessions, said that she would be taking children through seven-step sessions to teach them relaxation techniques.

Steps include movement, games and play, breathing, stretching, massage, affirmations and visualisation.

She said: “We will be doing things such as breathing exercises in a fun way by blowing bubbles of happiness and blowing up happy balloons, I will be showing affirmations by several drawing and colouring activities.

“We will be making happiness paper chains, getting children to write or draw what makes them feel happy.

I will have a chill out area where children can listen to the lovely visualisations, experience self massage and stretches.”

Lindsay Orton, from the council, has helped to organise the event and added: “We have an art zone where we are promoting using creativity to alleviate anxiety – we have mindful colouring, knit and stitch and attendees will be able to contribute to a collaborative art piece.

“We have a Therapy Zone where attendees will be able to have taster sessions and demonstrations of a wide variety of therapies.

“We also have Pilates and Baby Massage taking place in the Leisure Centre.”

Booking for each of these sessions is advised as places are limited to 15. For more information, or to book onto the session, email Lindsay.Orton@hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk learn some nice
