Free support events for dementia
FREE events and activities for people with dementia and their carers will be in Hinckley during National Dementia Awareness Week (May 14 to 20).
The programme has been put together in a joint venture between Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland’s Hinckley team, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and Hinckley Leisure Centre.
It is hoped that carers of people with dementia from across the borough will be able to make use of and benefit from the events on offer.
Activities include supervised strolls around Hinckley green spaces, pamper sessions and 1950s film screenings.
Hinckley Leisure Centre will also be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society by running a fundraising cake sale.
Already 13 members of staff at the town’s leisure centre are qualified as Dementia Friends through the Alzheimer’s Society programme, with more working towards the accreditation.
