LYCHGATE Fisheries Sunday afternoon open match again produced some good catches with the top four anglers all weighing over 50lbs.

Leading the way was Bruce Robinson, who landed 67lbs of carp from peg 34, taken on pole fished paste.

Runner up Terry Brindley pole fished pellet on peg 31 to catch 64lb 4ozs, Adie Holland finished third with a 57lb 8oz catch while Andy Findley was fourth with 55lb 12ozs.

The second round of the Summer League at Higham Lane Fishery was won by Martin Ireland who “slapped” his way to a 84lb 9oz catch from peg four.

Mick Linnett finished second catching close on the pole to finish with 66lb 9ozs.

Dennis Beecham finished third with 62lb 9ozs while Dean Hughes was fourth with 45lb 13ozs.

Switching between bread and pellet hook baits produced a winning 35lb 11oz catch for John Baughan in Maynes Lakes midweek open match.

Result; Pool one, first, John Baughan peg 32. Pool two, first; Alan Grewcock 22lb 13oz from peg 10. Pool three, first; Alan Wilson 26lb 15ozs from peg 42.

Lychgates Fisheries Saturday open match was won by Luke Winstaley who pole fished meat on peg four to catch 54lb 10ozs.

Jonny Harvey caught 52lb 2ozs on pellet feeder tactics from peg 15 to fin- ish second.

Ian Shirley came third with a 47lb 14oz catch.

Bruce Robinson came fourth with 31lb 12ozs.

There were lots of big fish hooked and many lost.

Guy Hope landed the biggest fish of the day at 11lb 4ozs.

Ricky Arms fished the pole on peg 17 to finish with a winning 94lb 7oz catch in Higham Lane’s Thursday open match. Dave Massey finished second with a 58lb 11oz catch.

Andy Stewart weaved his “waggler magic” to finish third with 54lb 9ozs.

Brookfield’s Sunday open match at Stoke Golding was won in style by Alby Beehl who caught 38lb 8ozs of carp and bream from peg 15.Martin Checkel came second with 27lb 12ozs while Jamie Horler finished third with 19lb 12ozs.

Section winners were Dave Armstrong with 15lb 12ozs and Ian Shipley with 16lb 6ozs.

Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday open match was surprising­ly hard after the recent good catches, and bites were few and far between.

Andy Findley took the honours with a 21lb 2oz catch on pellet feeder tactics on peg 9. Terry Brindley came second with a 14lb 10oz catch with Paul Bates taking third place with a 11lb 4oz catch.

Higham Lane Fishery have an open match every Thursday, draw 9am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an open matches on Saturday, draw 9am and on Sunday, draw 12.30pm.

Hinckley Angling have open matches for the next three Sundays at their Barwell Lane Fishery, starting on May 14th.
