Tots raise cash for orphanage
YOUNGSTERS from two town churches have raised money for children without families and living in an orphanage in India.
Members of Hinckley Methodist Church Tots and Toys group and Hinckley United Reformed Church Sparklers collected small change for a children’s orphanage in Kotipalli, Andhra Pradesh.
Their donation of more than £200 will pay for a year’s supply of eggs for the orphans as well as funding some school supplies.
The orphanage is supported by Hinckleybased charity Faith India Ministries (FIM) and cares for about 40 children, some of whom were found wandering the streets and living off rubbish dumps, with no family or possessions.
All now live in a safe environment and are in full time education.
Rachel Cobb, from FIM UK in Hinckley said: “Thanks to our supporters in the UK the children can continue to be cared for and looked after.”
FIM UK’s next fundraising event will be a Happy Harvest challenge in September.
