Vote for the best option for Bosworth
ELECTING the best local candidate and ditch tactical voting is the call from Labour’s Parliamentary aspirant.
Chris Kealey says people in the Bosworth constituency should not be swayed by political games.
He has spoken out after UKIP decided not to field anyone in Bosworth and the Liberal Democrats have suggested tactical voting to defeat Conservative, and longserving MP, David Tredinnick.
The former Hastings High School and John Cleveland College student was in the diplomatic service for more than 10 years, working at the United Nations, the EU and in Turkey. He spent two years in Afghanistan, for which he received an MBE in 2010 and he has also worked for Princes William, Harry and the Duchess of Cambridge during the time of the royal wedding, managing their charity portfolio.
Mr Kealey said: “Voting is about selecting the best candidate not second-guessing others. Tactical voting is a mug’s game. It has never worked in Bosworth and those peddling it now are delusional.
“Our patch won’t affect the national result on June 8 so everybody in our borough has a totally free vote. It’s a straightforward job interview. Who locally is best to get the job done for Bosworth through Brexit? Who has the back- ground, knowledge and skills to make a difference? I am standing because I believe I do, and I am fighting for the chance to prove it.”
He said candidates and the electorate should concentrate on the issues which matter in Bosworth like Brexit, investment in schools, social care and the NHS or opening J2 of the M69 both ways.
He added: “Limiting a voter’s choice or misleading people is damaging and wrong. That’s not democracy. We all have an equal say and every election is a fresh start. I hope voters in my community in Hinckley and Bosworth see through the nonsense, trust their own judgement and make a positive and credible choice on June 8.”
