Mayor’s final flight in office

-

TIME spent in and around Market Bosworth signalled the end of a year of civic visits for outgoing mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Councillor Richard Allen.

The borough’s first citizen went from all things medieval - with a visit to Hawkwise Falconry at Bosworth Battlefield heritage centre near Sutton Cheney - to cutting edge 21st century and a tour of precision engineering firm JJ Churchill, based in the village.

He got up close and personal with some feathery friends and was given the chance to fly a long eared owl and a Harris hawk at the falconry centre before a VIP tour of the JJ Churchill site in Station Road by managing director Andrew Churchill.

Cllr Allen said: “I would like to thank Becky at Hawkwise for giving me the fantastic opportunity to handle and fly her magnificent birds of prey, a truly unforgettable experi- ence.

“I would also like to say a massive thank you to Andrew and everyone I met at JJ Churchill for giving me an insight into the highly-skilled work they undertake and their very successful and expanding business.

“I wish them continued growth and success for the future.”

He added: “It makes me very proud that we have such diverse, unique and successful businesses in our borough.”
