Solo show for visitors’ favourite

-

ARTIST Jackie Ward has been given gallery space in a town venue after one of her pictures won a public vote in a previous exhibition.

Jackie, from Stoney Stanton, has a series of photo-realistic still life oil paintings on display at Ten2 Gallery on Castle Street in Hinckley until the end of June.

The Hinckley solo show was the reward for her picture of cow parsley being voted visitors’ favourite at the gallery’s Christmas exhibition.

It features 10 pieces, all of which are for sale.

The cow parsley painting, along with others by Jackie, is now on show at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.

Jackie, who left school at 16, worked for a commercial art studio in Coventry and as a graphic artist for Coventry City Council.

After years as a fulltime mum, she launched a home-based art club before retiring to start painting for her own pleasure.

She describes herself as “completely self-taught” and says she benefits from the support of her husband Colin who “frames my paintings brilliantly”.

Her work can be viewed at the Ten2 Gallery from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm.
