Webber’s Sunset show to come to the Curve
ANDREW Lloyd Webber’s Tony Awardwinning masterpiece Sunset Boulevard, opens at the Curve this September to launch a brand new UK Tour.
The show will be gracing the stage at the Curve from Saturday September 16 until Saturday September 30.
Based on Billy Wilder’s film with Don Black and Christopher Hampton’s book and lyrics, Sunset Boulevard is a story of romance and obses- sion directed by Nikolai Foster.
In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess Norma Desmond lives a fantasy world.
Impoverished screen writer Joe Gillis, running from debt collectors, stumbles into her reclusive world.
Persuaded to work on Norma’s ‘masterpiece’ - a film script she believes will put her back in front of the cameras - he is seduced by her and her luxurious lifestyle.
Joe becomes trapped in a claustrophobic world until his love for another woman leads him to try and break free, with dramatic consequences.
Ria Jones stars as Norma Desmond who received standing ovations every night at the London Coliseum.
The show has won Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, and promises to be a spectac- ular evening for all who attend.
Co-producers Michael Harrison and David Ian said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be presenting this incredible show with Curve. Lord Lloyd Webber’s fabulous score and Don Black and Christopher Hampton’s wonderful book and lyrics make this one of the all-time great musicals.”
