Budding musical talent showcased at park festival

-

POP and rock from the 1960s to the present day will resound across Hollycroft Park as part of the 2017 summer music programme.

Under the banner JAMFest the event on Sunday June 4 will showcase the instrumental and vocal skills of young people attending JAM music lessons in the borough.

Run by Dave and Rachel Carter, JAM Music School runs sessions at 23 schools in and around the borough as well as at the Atkins Building in Lower Bond Street, Hinckley.

While most JAM students are school age, Dave says it’s never to late to tap into your inner artist. He said: “That’s why the running order includes a short set by a band of senior youngsters from JAM’s Tuesday evening sessions at the Atkins Building. The senior band - some taking to the stage for the first time - will play songs from such artists as Santana, Bryan Adams and Chuck Berry.

“JAM’s younger performers will be from several schools and will be playing songs by more contemporary artists such as James Arthur, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes and Muse. The day will be rounded off by a set from the tutors of JAM Music Schools.”

Entry to JAMFest is free and refreshments will be available to purchase. Organisers The Friends of Hollycroft Park invite people to come along with deckchairs picnics and enjoy what promises to be a fabulous mini-festival right on the doorstep.

JAMFest runs from 11am to 5pm. For further information about the summer activities programme at Hollycroft Park see www.hollycroftpark. co.uk or for further details about music lessons at JAM Music Schools visit www.jammusicschools. co.uk
