Painter joins forces with a military charity

-

A TALENTED painter from The Art Studio in Hinckley has joined forces with a military charity to encourage people to get creative.

Rose Allinson, proprietor of The Art Studio on Upper Castle Street, helped to inspire a team of budding creatives as part of a painting activity for SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity.

Each year, the charity, which provides lifelong support to those who are currently serving, as well as veterans and their families, organises a series of activities and groups to encourage people to be inspired by art.

Rose and Linda Flower, who runs the Art Cafe, have run three painting activities alongside the SSAFA, and said that the event is becoming more and more popular.

Rose said that she wanted everyone to be able to create a picture they could feel proud of, whether they had painted before, or not picked up a paintbrush school.

She added: “One lady afterwards came up to me and thanked me, saying that she felt something had been released in her, and she felt she could now go home and begin painting again.

“It’s great to see people brave enough to be faced with a blank canvas, and to go away with a picture that not only have they enjoyed painting, but one that they feel happy to show friends and family.

“We all had so many great comments from attendees that we can’t wait to do it again.”

The SSAFA supports both regulars and reserves in the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, as well as their families and anyone who has completed National Service. T
