A feast of food and drink for everyone

- SAM HADADI wonderfulhinckley@gmail.com

FOOD lovers across the borough made the most of the glorious sunshine as Hinckley’s Feast Festival sizzled over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Tents and stalls from some of the town’s most beloved and talented foodies, as well as those from further afield, lined Argents Mead, as well as Castle Street and The Borough during the three-day festival.

Thousands of foodies were believed to have enjoyed the food extravaganza, which was organised by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Hinckley BID and Event Inspire.

Food on offer included traditional Italian pizzas, noodles, pickles and preserves, homemade cakes, Mexican cuisine, steaks and gourmet burgers, Caribbean jerk chicken, handcrafted cheeses, freshly-prepared meats, freshly-brewed artisan coffee, and mouth- watering pork wraps.

Stalls included the Tipple Truck Fire Engine, which housed wine and cocktails, as well as a Pimm’s and gin tent. Meanwhile, local food favourites including The Ginger Barista, FAB Noodle Bar and Ponchinello’s were all at the event.

Steve Wegerif, from Hinckley BID, said that he was pleased that so many had turned out to enjoy the festival.

He added: “It was great to see so many people enjoying Feast in Hinckley town centre this weekend - the chefs [from Hinckley restaurants] providing tasty dishes from the demon- stration kitchen were a ‘wow’, and people of all ages seemed to be having a really good time throughout the town.

“With 50 events planned by HBBC and Hinckley BID in the town this summer, please make sure you take a look at the ‘What’s On’ section in the Borough Bulletin, which will be dropping through your door soon.

“When you are next in town, tap on the screen of the Information Kiosk at the Castle Street and Church Walk junction or the Kiosk on the Crescent Walkway.”

It was the biggest and best food festival in Hinckley town centre yet, with a large array of local, regional, national and international food vendors offering their wares across Market Place, Castle Street and Argents Mead.

Each day of the festival also offered demonstrations from chefs in a special kitchen in Argents Mead, along with free musical entertainment and plenty of activities to keep children happy along with a huge array of delicious foods and drinks to tempt every palate

Visitors also enjoyed specialty teas, coffees and hot chocolates, delicious fresh juices, smoothies and shakes as well as an array of alcoholic drinks for adults including rum and fruit punch served in pineapples, bottled craft beers, speciality gins, wines and ciders.
