Big medal haul for TaeKwon-Do black belts
NINE black belt members from Burbage TaeKwon-Do Academy brought 17 medals home from Liverpool’s European Tae Kwon-Do championships.
Academy instructor Wayne Higginson said it was a “fantastic result” after the athletes went to the city’ Ecro arena to compete against 800 other martial artists from 32 European countries.
The athletes were competing for ITF England.
Laura Orgill secured the silver in sparring, the bronze in team power, team sparring, and team patterns.
Gary Bonser took home the bronze in sparring, power, and team special technique while Danielle Williams won bronze in team sparring, and team power.
Lyn Talbott claimed the bronze in veteran III degree patterns, veteran sparring, and was team captain of the overall country trophy for England Veteran Ladies Team.
Ian Frisby took the silver in the veteran I degree patterns and the bronze in veteran sparring.
Brooke Ryde won bronze in the II degree patterns and Bethany Frisby won bronze in 58kg for the 14 to 15 years for sparring.
Niamh Connolly won Bronze for 64kg and 14 to 15 years junior sparring.
Wayne added: “Academy Instructors are very proud of all members and their achievements who have worked really hard in perparation for this prestigious event.”
