Double win for Amateur

HINCKLEY Amateur got back to their winning ways with a comprehens­ive win over Huncote.

Put in to bat, openers Jamie Harris-Ensor (19) and Jason Tipping (27) got the Amateurs off to a solid start.

Ed Proctor hit a superb 133 off just 72 balls, including seven sixes, hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. He and Alan York - with an unbeaten 72 - shared a stand of 144 runs.

Sam Smart with a quick 27 not out enabled skipper York to declare at 278-4 with three overs to spare.

Smart then produced an incredible spell of bowling taking the first eight wickets finishing with figures of 12-3-20-8.

Harris-Ensor took the last two wickets as the villagers were all out for 55.

Amateur 2nd XI had a good win at Ashby Road against their Kirby Muxloe counterpar­ts.

Dave Sheahan scored 87 but the Amateur bowlers did well to bowl the visitors out for 165.

Again all the bowlers took wickets, Ash Woodward with four, Paul Ensor with three, Matt Smith two, and Matt Debbage with one.

Opener Steve Mustin (32) steadied the innings as wickets fell around him.

Then Gary Roach despite nursing a nasty injury with 19 and Paul Ensor with an unbeaten 72 to cap a fine match, guided the side home in the last over with three wickets remaining.

Amateur 3rd XI lost to Bombay at Swallows Green.
