Choirs come together

-

THREE choirs from two nations will be giving one voice when they perform a fundraising concert for the Hinckley and District Musem on Saturday June 17, 7.30pm at the Hinckley United Reformed Church.

The management and trustees of the Lower Bond Street museum promise an exciting night when it proudly presents the Burbage Community Choir - “Harmonic Voices” - in concert and joined on stage at The Borough church by two choirs from Wales - The Abertillery Orpheus Male Voice Choir and the Abertillery Ladies Orpheus Choir.

Museum chairman Ann Crabtree said: “We are delighted to be welcoming guests from Wales to our town to perform alongside our own very talented Burbage Community Choir.

A concert of this kind does not happen very often and there will be something in the programme to suit all ages and musical interests.”

The museum is fundraising in order to be able to fund an extension to its facilities. The larger funders such as the Heritage Lottery Fund expect organisations like the Museum to be able to make a significant contribution themselves.

Mrs Crabtree added: “The museum is so important to the town and our lovely 17th century cottages just do not have the space for all that we do in terms of education and community involvement.

“The extension is critical to our long term ambitions and plans.”

Tickets for the event are priced £10 which will include tea and coffee during the interval at the performance.

Tickets are available from the museum and can be reserved on h i n c k l e y muse u m@ hotmail.co.uk.

Alternatively, tickets will be available at the door.
