Flooring firm seeks new home in town
A BEDWORTH-based flooring firm wants to hop across the A5 to expand its business from a new Hinckley headquarters.
UK Flooring Direct currently operates from a Bayton Road in Exhall and specialises in online sales with a virtual showroom.
Since its launch in 2004 by founder Jason Ashby the business has grown rapidly and now a new base is required to support further expansion.
A planning application has been submitted to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to convert a former waste transfer station on Logix Road for a change of use from waste transfer station to a storage and distribution hub with associated offices and ancillary industrial space.
New windows, air conditioning units and swing doors to replace the roller shutters are suggested along with five externally illuminated signs.
A design statement supporting the bid from consultants QDC Project Services Ltd states: “My client runs a successful and expanding business which needs to relocate to an enhanced location both in terms of business operation and the facilities offered to the growing workforce.
“The fundamental shape of the property is unchanged.
“The proposed changes relate to elevations that are either internal to the business or are screened by maturing shrubs and hedges.”
The unit is on the perimeter of the business park alongside the A5 offering excellent transport opportunities to the growing concern.
QDC say staff from Bayton Road are expected to relocate but the company is confident of taking on extra workers as expansion continues.
A car-sharing policy is being investigated to manage private vehicle activity on site.
Currently the unit, which is fully accessible for disabled people, is vacant. Logix Park was built in 2007.
