Time to get hooping at an event for local cancer charity

-

GET YOURSELF into a spin this weekend with a fundraising event aimed at boosting Hinckley cancer charity, A Gift to Lift.

Organised by Burbage financial firms Northfield Wealth the day features Britain’s Got Talent semifinalist John Parnell, aka Hoop Guy.

He will be at the The Royal Arms in Sutton Cheney from noon to 4pm on Saturday June 17 where he will be showing people how to hoop like a professional.

Sessions will last an hour and cost £10 for adults and £5 for children with all money amassed going to A Gift to Lift, the charity set-up by Alex Hopwood in 2014.

Although diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in 2013 aged 22, Alex’s selfless nature soon shone through when she created A Gift to Lift to support others battling blood cancer.

Sadly she lost her battle for life in 2015 and A Gift to Lift continues in her memory.

John, aka Hoop Guy said: “I’m really proud to support A Gift to Lift and I look forward to helping raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.”

John will be bringing his own hoops for people to use and if you want a professional hoop to take home, these can be purchased on the day.

There will also be face painters to bring cheer to the youngsters.

Tickets for the sessions can be purchased by calling Northfield Wealth on Hinckley 886328 or visiting Eventbrite https:// www.event brite.co.uk/ event?eid=34905864380. Spaces are limited.

The Royal Arms will be donating 20% of any food purchased on the day and will be offering a prosecco breakfast and afternoon tea which will need to be booked in advance by calling the Royal Arms on Hinckley 290263.
