Was I at fault for my parking?

-

I AM writing to the people’s page to see if your readers can solve a little problem that is bothering me.

On June 20 at 7 o’clock I took my husband up to a Citizens Club for a couple of hours.

I have to think just where I am going to park owing to the fact five years ago my husband had a very bad stroke that affected his walking and I drive so he has to be helped.

I can not park by the club door because parked cars make it narrow when he has to have the front door of the call fully open for him to get out with his frame so I park on the left hand side of Hill Street right at the bottom as it is wider.

But on June 20 there was a large white van across the road. If I had parked the car straight it did not leave room for cars to get by.

So I parked my car with the bonnet on the pavement. I got out, helped my husband out, got my bags to help him in the club and was coming back to straighten my car up.

But a gentleman - if you could call him a gentleman - started shouting at me about my car and how I had parked.

I told him I was coming back to straighten it when I had settled my husband in the club but that didn’t stop him shouting at the top of his voice. Even the people in the bar could hear him, that’s how loud he was.

I straightened my car up but it is bothering me - did I do wrong? Please say how you would have parked. Anonymous
