Stop insulting us older Brexiteer voters

-

HERE we go again.

I’m really tired of reading letters in the Hinckley Times written by a, in my opinion, coward who hides their identity behind the name of Shyfox.

Perhaps a foxhunt is called for but then I dare say Hunt Saboteur would turn up and get in the way.

The only reason we may now have to endure a soft Brexit is partly due to the young new voters’ attempts to place Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn into number 10.

That is one of the main causes of the so-called fiasco written about by Shyfox, who like most younger folk, seem to forget what a mess Labour buried this country in during its last term in office.

Let me at this juncture point to the fact that, until June 2009, for nearly 24 years I was a member of a union and paid a weekly subscription into Labour party funds.

But, while Mr Corbyn is Labour leader, my future vote will go elsewhere.

If Labour ever get elected to govern this great, diverse, nation of ours and presses on with the proposals of their manifestos, unem- ployment will skyrocket to beyond what it was when they last governed.

And by the way, the Conservative party WON the general election, albeit with a much reduced majority.

Brexit has never been about stopping EU migrants coming to Britain.

It was about taking back control of our borders in order to get those who would do us harm from coming in, which thanks to EU legislation, would have made them unsafe.

As for EU migrants being offered residency, only those who have been here for a minimum of five years qualify.

The fact that we, Britain, are short of trained, medical, teaching and other highly qualified people, is that those who qualify here return to their country of origin or, if they are British-born, move abroad to work.

Teaching, nursing and the medical profession used to be a “vocation” not just a job.

Now, when a great many nurses qualify, they get the attitude of “too post to wash” as they think a university education makes them too qualified.

When it comes to complaining about the pressure on GP surgeries, schools and housing, we keep hearing that it’s due to an ageing population putting pressure on GPs.

But we never hear complaints of the younger populace getting child care allowance, family tax credits to raise their children, which, by the way, part of my tax goes to pay for from my pension.

We older folk only get family allowance and if we were unemployed and couldn’t pay the mortgage, no help was available except the dole (if unfamiliar with the word dole, Google history of unemployment).

Do us, the older “Brexiteers” (all for one and one for all), the 51% majority that doesn’t forget, who don’t want to keep reading insults from someone who obviously hates living here a favour. Go to earth or just emigrate.

I suppose you could always move to another county but I think they would also soon tier of your attitude. John Rowley Earl Shilton (Brexiteer) by email
