Send in selfie to opticians

-

STYLISH spectacle wearers in Hinckley can win £10,000 in cash and £1,000 worth of new glasses.

Specsavers is asking for people to send in selfies of themselves wearing their specs with pride.

The competition is now in its 22nd year, and has so far raised £400,000 for anti-bullying charity Kidscape.

Abhijit Roy, store director at Specsavers in Hinckley, says: “This is the last chance for people in Hinckley to showcase their specs appeal to the whole country.

“We’re encouraging glasses wearers to upload a selfie today, it couldn’t be easier.”

There are five age categories: 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s, plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public.

A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and attend the awards ceremony in London in October.

Multi-platinum pop star and Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle is plugging the award and will present the overall winner’s award at an event in October.

Nadine, who will present the overall winner’s award, says: “The standard is so high and it’s incredible to see so many people showing off their specs style.

“No matter what your age or personal style, it’s all about rocking your specs with pride.”

More information is available in Specsavers on Castle Street.
