Family recovering after crash trauma

-

A FAMILY who were involved in a two-car smash outside Wolvey recently have said they are recovering at home from their injuries.

Paul Simpson was driving a BMW when it was involved in the smash at the crossroads of Lutterworth Road and Hinckley Road on Monday July 3.

In a previous article it was stated that his wife, Marjorie Anne was driving the car, but Mr Simpson called The Hinckley Times to say that he was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.

Their disabled 48-year old son, Gregory Mark, was left hanging upside down for 30 minutes while firefighters cut him and Marjorie out of the car.

We are happy to clarify the details and add that all three are recovering at home from their injuries.

Both Marjorie and Gregory were in University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) for about a week after she sustained a broken sternum and back, and he suffered severe burns and other injuries.

Paul suffered a minor head injury and other cuts and their two dogs also received minor injuries.

The severity of the injuries of a 21-year old woman who was in a Citroen car, and who had to be cut free, is unknown.

At the time an ambulance service statement said she complained of head, neck, back, shoulder, chest, thigh and shin pains.

Mr Simpson wished to thank the emergency services personnel and staff at the UHCW for the “brilliant” care they received.

Three ambulances, a paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

Fire crews from Nuneaton and Bedworth also attended and helped free those trapped from their vehicles.
