History from castle to church

HISTORY lovers can look forward to a guided walk from Castle to Church in Sapcote, tracing centuries of life and death in the village.

Historian and chairman of Sapcote Heritage Group Keith Hextall will be leading the ramble from the Scheduled Ancient Monument of the castle site to All Saints’ Church.

Information will be given about excavations of the castle, including photographs of what is underground, and about the Basset family links with the parish church.

Light refreshments will be provided afterwards.

The walk will start at 7pm in Sapcote’s Pavilion car park, Hinckley Road, and finish by 8.30pm.

There will be a charge of £3 for adults, with accompanied children free.

Money will go towards the restoration of the church organ.
