HINCKLEY’S foodies will be feasting their eyes on mouth-watering world cuisines and classic street food when a popular food festival returns to the town next month.

Feast Festival, organised by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, will be held on August 12 and 13 and promises to be the biggest and best food festival in the town to date.

The food lover’s event, which runs from 10am to 4pm on both days, will see over 28 food and drink vendors descend on Argents Mead with a range of local, national and international cuisine represented.

This year’s Feast will feature wood-fired pizzas from the Burbage-based Italian Stallion, gourmet burgers from The White Bear, traditional confectionery by Tina’s Sweet Dreams, crepes by Burbage-based Event Crepes and Hinckley’s Goodies Crepes, Organic Farm BBQ and pies by some of Hinckley’s Farmer’s Market traders.

There will also be delicious cupcakes by Barwell bakery Beth Bakes, as well as cakes by Earl Shilton’s Betty Browns Bakes and The Bake Well Tart. Cream teas will also be on offer from Hinckley’s Star Tea Rooms.

The event has also attracted interest from regional, national and international street food traders and mobile bars which will be bringing their wares to the town.

Food on offer will include traditional hog roast, brisket of beef spit, Mexican street food, filled Yorkshire puddings, Indian tikka and lamb kebab wraps, Korean and Vietnamese wraps, hot potatoes with traditional fillings and street food.

Visitors can opt to drink craft beer served from a fire engine, prosecco from a tuk-tuk bar and cocktails from a converted VW camper van. Speciality coffees will also be served by baristas The Ginger Barista and Proppa Coffee.

There will also be a giant,120foot inflatable assault course supported by Hinckley BID for children, as well as balloon modelling and the ever-popular Music in the Mead.

Meanwhile, Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, ‘Hoop Guy’ John Parnell, will be providing a free hula hoop and circus skills workshops and stilt-walking on Sunday 13 August.

Borough Councillor Chris Ladkin said: “Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council is determined for Hinckley to become the town with the best daytime and nighttime offerings to shoppers and visitors looking for good restaurants, cinema and excellent bars.

“As part of this we are organising on August 12/13 a Feast Hinckley which will showcase the food and drinks of local and regional suppliers all in Argents Mead next to our new leisure centre.”

Borough Councillor Maureen Cook added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to participate in the events and is well worth a visit.

“Argents Mead will be absolutely buzzing the whole weekend with children’s entertainment, live music and food and drink vendors including some very unusual and original exhibits.”

Visitors are reminded that parking is free all day on Sunday in Hinckley’s council-run car parks. For more information and an up-to-date list of vendors visit the borough council website or search for Feast Hinckley on Facebook.
