Serenade for Cancer Research
A MUSICAL soiree held in a village church raised £700 for Cancer Research UK.
Hinckley-based a cappella group Accord and former John Cleveland College student, pianist Glenn Clarke performed a wide range of pieces at a Midsummer Serenade event held in St Catherine’s Church, Burbage.
It was hosted by fundraisers from the charity’s borough-based supporters’ group.
Songs ranged from folky Summer is ‘Icomen In and Waly Waly to crooning Blue Moon and the heartwrenching Bring Him Home, and represented composers from Henry Vlll to the Flying Pickets.
The evening ended with a cheery, audience participation rendition of the children’s favourite Old MacDonald Had a Farm.
