Woodland challenge for buiding society staff

-

STAFF from a Hinckley building society got back to nature when they took part in a team challenge at a county beauty spot.

Workers from Hinckley and Rugby Building Society’s headquarters spent a day digging deep at Fosse Meadows Nature Reserve as part of the project for Leicestershire Cares.

A team of 13 from the office on Upper Bond Street got stuck into clearing pathways through the woodland at the nature reserve near Sharnford.

Leicestershire Cares team challenges see volunteers from businesses in the county give their time and energy to help community groups and charities.

The volunteers were led by Emily Smith, a business development manager, who said: “Everyone had a fabulous time and all commented on how nice it was to be working outside for the day in such a nice setting.

“A lot of the volunteers had never been to Fosse Meadows before but will be going back with their dogs and children.”

James Poynton, green space engagement officer at Blaby District Council, said: “We were delighted to welcome the enthusiastic team, who managed to complete a lot more work than I thought possible.

“Their work to prune trees and clear brambles will make the walkways and woodland more accessible and safe. We’d be delighted to welcome the team back anytime.”
