Post Office could return as pop-up

POST OFFICE services could return to Market Bosworth within weeks.

The town’s permanent Post Office on Main Street shut in November 2016 when husband-and-wife team Brian and Lynne Eveson retired after running the community outlet for nearly 40 years.

Now, a public consultation has been launched to gauge reaction to plans to open a pop-up service in Market Boswort Parish Hall on Park Street.

The proposals have been put together by the Post Office with the help of St Peter’s Parochial Church Council (PCC) which has offered to make secure space available within the building, at minimal cost.

Described as a “hosted outreach” operation, the service is proposed to be available on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm and on Thursdays from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Offering what the Post Office describes as a “wide range of services”, it would be run by the Postmaster of Bolehall Post Office in Tamworth who already runs similar set-ups in Newton Burgoland, Newton Regis and Donisthorpe esley McNally, work operations netarea manager for the Post Office said: “I’m really pleased that we are proposing to restore Post Office services to Market Bosworth.

“Hosted outreach is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to smaller communities and presents the best possible solution to restore Post Office services to this community.”

People have until August 11 to comment on the proposals.

If reaction is favourable, the service could be up and running in the very near future.

The Post Office has asked for views on what people think about the proposed location and their ability to get there.

It also wants to know how people feel about the proposed opening days and hours and, if the scheme goes ahead, if there is anything that could be done to make it easier for customers to access.

The hall has a ramp to its front entrance and wheelchair-accessible doors.
