Churches of different denominations, Street Pastors, SureStart, The Stute and Earl Shilton Community House have all come together to draw up a programme of opportunities for parents with young families during the school holidays.

It includes A Place To Be, the offer of space for parents with young children to meet to chat, have a cuppa and play together between 11am and 3pm on Monday July 31 and August 11, 14 and 24 at various churches around the town.

In addition, on Wednesday August 9 there will be outdoor games on Hall Field followed by a picnic lunch and family film in Earl Shilton Baptist Church on Mill Lane.

On Thursday August 17 there will be crafts in the Community House on Peggs Close followed by a picnic.

Tuesday August 22 will see an Earl Shilton’s Got Talent show at St Simon and St Jude’s Parish Hall and on September 2, Earl Shilton town show will include lunch and games.

All events are free, with no charge for any activity or food. There is no need to pre-book places.

Children must be accompanied for A Place To Be sessions but may be left during some of the other events provided that a parent or carer signs a permission slip.

All events are listed on St Simon and St Jude’s Facebook events section at www.facebook.com/pg/stsimonandstjude/events.
