Cup success for debut girls futsal side

-

SPORTY girls have been showing off their talents and their rewards after triumphing in a series of competitions.

The Under-10s girls futsal team from Green Towers Club 4 Young People have achieved accolades not only across the county and region but also nationally - all in their first season.

Under the umbrella of GreenTowers FC the youngsters saw a debut victory in the Beaumont Town Cup in April, then the Leicestershire Futsal Finals in June at St Georges Park, home of the FA and England national team, before going on to claim the honours in the East Midlands Championship just two weeks later.

The regional win against the champions of Nottingham, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire put them through as East Midlands representatives in the national finals held at the end of June in Birmingham .

Here they took on the might of experienced teams from across the country, including a team put out under the auspices of Premier League side West Ham United.

Victory eluded them this time around with a finishing place of fifth but the season ended on a high with them lifting the winners’ trophy in the Coalville Cup.

The team are looking to continue to grow for the 2017/18 run and have opportunities for girls to play in two Under-11s teams within the Leicester City and County Girls Football League.
