Play scheme gets building society support

-

EARL Shilton Building Society is donating towards a summer play scheme in Barwell.

The society is supporting three lunchtime family play sessions at Barwell Methodist Church, which are part of the annual Snapdragon Family Festival.

The funds will be used to pay for hiring equipment and providing a buffet lunch for families who attend the events.

A bouncy castle, soft play area, giant Connect4,balloon modelling and ice creams are planned.

Barwell resident David Attenborough is part of the church and also formerly worked for the society.

He said: “We’re very grateful for the generous donation, which will help to give us the financial grounding to put on three fantastic events for the community.

“It is the first time we have taken part in the Snapdragon Family Festival, so it is reassuring for us to have support from local businesses and organisations.”

Paul Tilley, chief executive of Earl Shilton Building Society, said: “We are always keen to support community-led initiatives.

“We wish all of the volunteers the very best in bringing some fun and laughter to young families in Barwell.”

The sessions are aimed at children aged five to 11, but organisers hope to have something for all the family.

They are running over three consecutive Friday lunchtimes, from noon to 2pm, on July 28 and August 4 and August 11.

Entry is £1 per child for each day.
