Thrill seekers set for a soaking on water slide

-

ADRENALINE junkies can get a big hit when the tallest inflatable water slide in the world comes to Leicestershire later this year.

Not for the faint of heart, the 72ft tall and 200ft long Thriller will carry riders up to 40mph ending in a sea of foamy bubbles.

The fiant slide is part of the Gung-Ho! inflatable obstacle course which arrives at Donington Park in September.

Created by former children’s TV presenter Alex Winters, it is made up of ten obstacles needing enough air to inflate an eye watering 100 million footballs.

Alex came up with the idea for Gung-Ho! in 2014 while sat in front of the TV watching Ninja Warrior with his three children.

He said: “The Thriller is our most popular obstacle, and always gets rave reviews from runners.

“It has been part of the obstacle line up since we started Gung-Ho! in 2014, but this year we’ve made a few changes to make it even better.

“We went to Manchester last year and it was raining hard, but that only served to make the Thriller even faster and more fun for people taking part.

“That’s why we have added water to it for 2017, and the results have been amazing.

“It has been more popular than ever, with the screams even louder than before!

“We are bringing Gung-Ho! to the East Midlands for the first time this year and I can’t wait to see people’s faces as they see it for the first time and then fly down it at a ridiculous speed.

“I have a feeling this will be the best Gung-Ho! debut we’ll have ever had.”

More than 100,000 people have taken part in Gung-Ho! over the past two years, and the event is now halfway through its second national tour.

Many participants take part in the course for charity, with thousands of pounds being raised for good causes.

They can also run as part of Team Pudsey in aid of the race’s national charity partner, BBC Children in Need, for discounted tickets and a free t-shirt.

Gung-Ho! will be at Donington Park on Saturday 23 September 2017.
