Fine bowling lands a win for Barwell against Caribbean

LEICESTER Caribbean won the toss and elected to bowl first and had early success as they had Ady Baker caught in the first over.

Tommy Wright and Clint Baker then dug in against some discipline­d bowling and took the score to 29 before Wright was bowled for 17.

Dec Allen joined Clint Baker for the third wicket and gave the innings some much needed impetus.

Allen struck four 4s and two 6s in his innings of 38 and was next out with the score on 92.

Clint Baker went on to score 69 and was eighth man out when he was caught with the score on 165.

Nick Hines and Lee Skene then put on a valuable 31 runs for the last wicket with Nick Hines striking five 4s in his 24 not out.

Their effort took Barwell to 199-9 off their 45 overs.

In reply Leicester Caribbean got off to a flyer until Skene and Hines reigned them in with some tight bowling.

Both claimed one wicket to leave Caribbean 64-2 after 15 overs.

At the drinks break Caribbean were 94-2 after 23 overs.

It was then that skipper Clint Baker brought himself into the attack to bowl in tandem with Ady Baker.

Both made an immediate impact taking regular wickets with the help of some fine catching in the deep by Nick Hines and Liam O’Rourke.

Ady Baker claimed the final wicket with the scores on 168 in the 41st over. Clint Baker finished with figures of 4-31 and Ady Baker 4-42.

Barwell are home against bottom of the league Mountsorre­ll Castle next week.
