Salvation Army’s new leader
A NEW commanding officer has taken up her post at Hinckley Salvation Army.
Major Carol Evans will lead the Lancaster Road-based church, following the move of Majors David and Julie Ludditt to Rothwell in Northamptonshire.
A minister for 26 years, with previous appointments in Suffolk and Bedfordshire, Major Evans arrived in Hinckley at the end of July after serving in Dunstable.
She said: “I am feeling very blessed to have been appointed to Hinckley.
“Everybody’s so friendly and happy to help. I’m loving it already.”
Major Evans said she is looking forward not only to working alongside Salvation Army members to continue to serve and support the community, but also with other Christian churches in and around the town.
She said: “We are one big church and we all have to pull together.
“The fact that we can provide such variety in terms of worship and services is good.”
Major Evans will lead the Salvation Army’s regular Sunday morning worship at 10am which will be run as a family service with something of interest for all ages, to which all are welcome.
She is also licensed to conduct marriages, funerals and dedications of infants.
Considering herself a “people person” Major Evans is looking forward to meeting more new people as she continues to settle in to her new home and role.
