Versatile singer Chris is a man of many parts
CHRIS MARLOW many faces.
A principal singer for several operatic companies in the area and further afield, he has appeared as every kind of character.
From villains to heros, he’s played them all and will be recreating some of the most wellknown parts vocally at a recital in Hinckley on Wednesday September 6.
The Hinckley-based baritone, whose performances for Stanley Opera, Knighton Opera and Aylesbury Opera have included Figaro in The Barber of Seville, and the title roles in Macbeth and Eugene Onegin, will be giving a lunchtime concert in St Mary’s Church from 1pm.
Hosted by St Mary’s Arts (Smarts), his programme will include songs from, among others, is a man of The Barber of Seville, South Pacific, Chess, Mack and Mabel, Carmen, My Fair Lady, Les Miserables and White Horse Inn, with a rendition of The Impossible Dream from The Man From La Mancha on the set list for good measure.
He will be accompanied by pianist John Gull, a former conductor with Leicester Philharmonic Choir, and Leicester-based piano and singing tutor.
The recital will last less than an hour and people are invited to take lunch to eat before or afterwards, as well as to make use of the church coffee bar.
Admission is £4 for adults and £1 for children and students on the door.
A season ticket, giving entry to the recital and three other lunchtime performances between now and December, may be bought instead for £14.
Smarts chairman Philip Worley said: “We welcome people to enjoy these informal concerts in the beautiful setting of Hinckley’s medieval parish church, with light, classical music performed to the highest standards.”
