-

A SUPERMARKET giant which is setting up a new store in Broughton Astley is looking for new recuits.

Managers of the new Aldi store in Broughton Road are looking for 20 new members of staff to complete their 35-strong team.

Deputy store managers, store assistants and apprentices are all needed before the branch of the German discount chain opens in the coming weeks.

At least 15 members of staff, including manager Nick Jones, have already been appointed.

The store, which is currently under construction, is near to the site where 310 new houses are being built as part of Broughton Astley’s “Big Plan”.

Store manager Nick, from Leicester, who first joined Aldi in 2007, said the company offered one of the best working environments in the UK.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to the new challenges that the Broughton Astley store will present.

“The recent investment in the area will make the new store a busy one, so we’ll need a great team with bags of enthusiasm and customer service skills to ensure we offer the best experience possible.

“We’d encourage anyone interested in a successful and rewarding career in retail to take a look at our recruitment website – we have a whole host of opportunities for people at all stages of their career, from school leavers to managers.”

Aldi was crowned Employer of the Year 2017 at the recent Grocer Gold awards and the company said it offered a “significantly higher” rate of hourly pay compared to most other British supermarkets.

The lowest-paid Aldi employees currently receive at least £8.53 per hour, regardless of their age.

The deputy store manager roles, which start from 25 hours per week, come with a starting salary of £9.53 per hour rising to £11.15 per hour, plus an extra £4 per hour when the deputy is managing the store.

The store is looking for candidates with “strong numerical skills” for the store assistant roles, which involve operating the tills, stock management and merchandising.

Application forms and more information on all of Aldi’s store positions can be found on Aldi’s recruitment website.
