Medicines survey responses are returned

-

ALL RESPONSES have all been received from a survey asking how people would be affected if they had to buy certain common medicines, instead of getting them on prescription.

Health chiefs launched an online survey in July asking about attitudes to purchasing items such as specialised infant formula, vitamin D supplements, hay fever remedies and cold sore creams.

West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the body which pays for and provides NHS services for Hinckley and Bosworth, is analysing the results of the probe.

When completed the findings will be made available on the group’s website and will also go to inform future decisions on what treatments for minor ailments should be available on prescription - especially those which can be purchased far more cheaply over the counter.

The next step once a report of the findings is produced is for our Governing Board to carefully consider what people have told us before making a decision on any change to the prescribing of specific over the counter medicines.

A CCG spokesman said: “The next step once a report of the findings is produced is for our governing board to carefully consider what people have told us before making a decision on any change to the prescribing of specific over the counter medicines.”
