New-look coffee bar at St Marys’s in town

-

ST MARY’S Church in Hinckley has spruced up its coffee bar, thanks to a kind donation.

Asda in Barwell Lane donated six chairs and nine squaretopped tables to the town centre church’s cafe.

The Reverend Angela Tarry, curate at St Mary’s, said: “We are delighted that Asda gifted some of their old tables and chairs to us.

“Already the coffee bar looks lighter, and the slightly bigger tables make it even easier to have a slice of cake with your tea or coffee or our new milkshakes.

“The tables and chairs allow us to echo the idea that God is always enabling new things to happen out of old, and we’re delighted the tables and chairs have found a new lease of life here at St Mary’s, as all are invited to do with God.”

Asda was able to donate the items as it refurbished its staff canteen.

The superstore last refurbished the canteen 10 years ago, when it also donated some old tables and chairs to St Mary’s.

The coffee bar is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

St Mary’s also stocks a variety of Fairtrade goods and has a large second-hand book shop.

The church is currently looking for volunteers to work on the coffee bar, with people of all ages and experiences welcome to get in touch.
