A spokesperson for Aldi said: “We are thrilled that the Hinckley community is supportive of our proposals for Hollier’s Walk.
“They agree with us that this is the perfect location for a highquality, town centre food store.
“Many residents told us how they would like to have an Aldi nearby and within walking dis- tance, and an overwhelming majority agreed that the site is an eyesore and requires development.”
The spokesperson also mentioned that local businesses backed the plans and “are excited by the prospect of Aldi opening a the National Brewery Centre in Burton and formerly of Worthington and Bass Worthington.
The ceremony was hosted jointly by Hinckley and Bosworth branch of Camra, the campaign for real ale with Hinckley and District Museum, and supported by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
Special guests included Cam- food store in the town centre”.
Steve Wegerif, director of Hinckley BID, said: “It will balance against The Crescent and bring more people back to the centre of town.
“Apart from anything else, it will make take a scruffy piece of ra’s regional director for the east midlands Carl Brett, the depu ty mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth Councillor Jan Kirby, Orton’s County Councillor Ivan Ould, former Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Councillor and heritage champion Councillor Stanley Rooney and The Unicorn licen- land and make it look very smart.

Councillor Mike Hall, leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, has also spoken out in support of the scheme welcoming the investment in the town.
Aldi said some 40 jobs are expected to be created from the multi-million pound scheme, which would be developed on long-vacant and overgrown brownfield land off Hollier’s Walk in the town centre.
The former factory site has been vacant for several years.

Tower captain at St Edith’s Graham Titley said: “He was an accomplished and enthusiastic ringer who went on to use his wealth to endow many churches in the Burton area with bells.”
Among those ringing the quarter peal to mark the occasion was a great grandson of William Worthington - another William Worthington.
