Teachers in charity ride
BOSWORTH Academy is taking part in a sponsored cycle ride in aid of a charity supporting vulnerable people.
The Desford school is taking part in the Tour de Leicestershire, to raise funds for Leicesterbased Open Hands, for the fourth consecutive year.
Dave Bennett, deputy head at the academy, said: “Bosworth Academy is proud to be associated with the work of Open Hands.
“They do great work supporting people in our city and county.
“We are hoping to get a large number of staff, students and parents involved this year - it will be brilliant to support Open Hands and have the enjoyment of getting fit as well.”
The non-competitive race begins and ends at the academy, visiting Mountsorrel, Gumley, Husbands Bosworth and Cosby, on a choice of two routes - 80 miles and 56 miles.
The ride is fully signed, with refreshments provided en route and a barbecue at the finish.
All money from the entry fee goes to Open Hands, apart from £1 which goes to British Cycling.
A prize is available this year, for the first time, for the group which cycles the most miles.
Velobici Cyclewear, High5 Sports Nutrition and Rapid Relief Team Charity sponsor the event.
More information is available on the Open Hands website.
The event is happening on September 9, leaving the academy at 8am.
