THE final round of the Summer league fished at Higham Lane Fishery was won yet again by Andy Findley.

On a difficult day “The Fin” romped to victory, finishing over 100lbs clear of the runner up!

Drawn on peg 11 at the end of the island, Andy landed six fish in the first thirty minutes and never looked back finishing with a superb 149lb 11oz winning catch. Alan Grewcock finished second with a 38lb 11oz catch from peg 22.

Clive Oliver landed five big carp to take third place with 28lb 6ozs.

Overall Winner of the series was Andy Findley. Chris Whaite came second with Dennis Beecham third.

It was a weekend double for Andy Findley as he won Sunday’s Lychgate Fisheries afternoon Open match.

On a day where the top five all weighed over 85lbs, “The Fin” used a method feeder on the end of his pole to catch 118lb 10ozs from peg 55. Lee “Mushy” Farmer pushed him close, weighing 116lb 12ozs to finish second. Luke Winstanley came third with 89lb 14ozs while Chris Mason was fourth with 89lb 1ozs.

Alby Beehl took the honours in Wednesday’s Maynes Lakes Open. Catching from the start, Alby finished with a 51lb10oz catch of carp all taken on pole fished pellet and sweet corn from the margins.

On what was a hard day for most in Wednesday’s Lychgate Fisheries Open match, but Andy Findley didn’t seem to notice as he took the honours with a 102lb catch of carp from peg 48. Martin Thompson finished second with 63lb 6ozs from peg 20. Terry Brindley was third with a 46lb 14ozs.

Higham Lane’s Thursday Open was won by Clive Oliver who used method feeder tactic’s on peg 17 to catch 63lb of carp. Mark White came second with a 53lb 9oz catch while Mick Linnett finished third with 45lb 11ozs.

After last weeks bumper catches hopes were high in Brookfield’s Sunday Open match, but the lake fished surprising­ly hard with Paul Morris needing just 22lb to win. Tony Cuppleditc­h came second with 19lb 12ozs and Ray Lewis finished third with a 17lb catch.

Saturday’s Lychgate Fisheries Open match was Findley free and was won by Mark Sidwells with a 44lb 12oz catch from peg 46. Graham Statham came second with a 31lb 10oz catch while Guy Hope finished third with 31lb 4ozs.

Place are filling fast for the Lychomania 2018 final with 21 of the 36 places already taken. Qualifiers take place though every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday Open matches at Lychgate Fisheries.

Higham Lane Fishery has an Open match every Thursday , draw 9am.

After last weekend’s break for the boat festival, angling resumes on the canal with two matches planned.

On Saturday it’s the latest match in the Pete Hogg Memorial Series. Draw 1pm at the Rising Sun, then on Sunday Shackersto­ne have an Open match, draw 7.45am again at the Rising Sun.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches/Lychomania Qualifiers this Saturday, draw 9am and on Sunday draw 12.30pm.

Brookfield have an Open match this Sunday at Stoke Golding, draw 9am.

Maynes Lakes have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 9am.
