Body is found in search for missing man
Search and rescue teams joined police in scouring fields
A BODY has been found in the search for missing Fenny Drayton man Robin Mills.
Leicestershire Police said while a formal identification had not yet taken place, the body was believed to be that of the 63-year-old who went missing from his home last Monday (September 4)
Announcing the discovery, police said the body was discovered on Thursday afternoon close to Mancetter.
On the force’s Facebook page thanks were offered to search and rescue teams who scoured fields and waterways for three days.
Thanks were also offered to the local community who rallied around police and search teams.
The statement, posted on Thursday night, said: “Over the last week the community within Fenny Drayton has provided immense support to officers searching for a missing local man.
“Whether it was cups of tea or refreshments for officers or you shared our appeals for information, each and every one of you, has provided valuable support to officers on the ground.
“We would like to thank you and the Search and Rescue teams from across the region for your assistance with the policing operation.
“Unfortunately earlier this afternoon a body was discovered in Warwickshire.
“Although formal identification of the body has not yet been confirmed, it is believed to be that of the missing man, Robin Mills.”
Commenting on the same post, the Leicestershire Search and Rescue Team, who helped in the search, said: “Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of Robin at this tragic time.
“It’s not the result that any of us wanted, but we hope the closure will bring some relief to those involved.
“Thank you so much to the people that gave hot food & drinks to the team during the three difficult days, it meant the world to our teams.”
Robin was reported missing on Monday afternoon and concerns grew as he was without medication needed to treat epilepsy.
His disappearance was described at completely out of character.
Appeals to find Robin were shared hundreds of times on social media throughout the week.
