Two new sites for waste disposal
TWO extra sites could be used as tips for construction waste in the county thanks to an update to the official blueprint for quarrying, refuse and recycling.
The Leicestershire County Council draft mineral and waste developments plan is to be considered by councillors on the scrutiny committee and at a later full cabinet meeting.
The plan lasts up until 2031 and if the changes are accepted will include Ibstock Quarry and Husbands Bosworth Quarry as part of an update into how excavated waste material from construction will be dealt with.
The county is facing a shortfall in suitable sites according to latest forecasts. A public consultation will follow after which the plan will be submitted for independent examination by a Government planning inspector.
