Unions merge

THE largest education union in the UK launches today, following a merger of two unions collectively representing over 450,000 workers.

The new National Education Union (NEU) will represent the majority of teachers and other education professionals across the country, leaders said.

It is made up of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) and the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and will campaign on issues such as workload, education funding and pay.
