Shilton has talent all summer
HUNDREDS of adults and children made the most of summer holiday activities organised by churches and community groups across Earl Shilton.
Organisations worked together to host stay and play sessions, crafts and games days, film screenings, a party lunch and disco among other things, in churches, church halls and the town’s community house.
Sessions were supported by, among others, Earl Shilton’s PCSO, who invited enthusiastic youngsters to sit in his police car and press buttons, street pastors and library outreach workers, with party food donated by the town’s award-winning chippie, Chris’s Fish and Chips.
An Earl Shilton’s Got Talent show saw entrants from as young as three take to the stage dancing, singing and even hula-hooping.
On one day, it rained so hard that everything had to take place inside the town’s Baptist Church, which was packed with more than 120 adults and children, playing games, watching a film and eating lunches made by the children on site.
Many people also made use of A Place to Be days, where venues were opened up for people to simply meet and chat and play together.
“Basically, it’s been really good!” said one of the organisers, Rebecca Castle, wife of St Simon and St Jude Church vicar Martin.
