BAKE OFF is back and not just on the TV. Building on the success of the inaugural G Seller and Co Ltd cake-cooking competition last year, the firm will be hosting its 2017 event in Newbold Verdon on September 16.

Entry is free but budding bakers will need to apply by September 13 to ensure their creation gets a spot in the contest.

A spokesman from fami- ly-run funeral director G Seller said: “We would love individuals from the local community, and local businesses, to enter a cake in an attempt to be our Bake Off Champion 2017.

“This event supports our continuing involvement with the local community raising funds for our local charity, The Dorothy Goodman School, a school for special children from the ages of three to 14.

“The school makes such a difference to the lives it touches. We are delighted to be hosting this event to help raise funds while having some fun and a piece of cake at the same time.

The event is set to return annually and we are really excited about making this year even more successful and looking forward to tasting some great cakes too.”

Entry forms can be obtained from the G Seller and Co Ltd branches in Newbold Verdon, Glen Parva or Hinckley, from local shops in Newbold Verdon or by email request to office@gseller.co.uk

Entries are free and once submitted all people need to do is bake a cake and turn up with it at Newbold Verdon Methodist Church Hall on September 16 before 9.30am.

The event starts at 10am and there will be plenty of opportunity to try some cake with a cup of tea or coffee, enter the raffle and help to raise funds for a great cause.

Entrants are being encouraged to post pictures of their cakes on Twitter using the hashtag #NVBakeOff and to the Twitter account @gsellerco also.
