Party pair ban gifts for cash
OCTAGENARIANS Margaret and Alan Chandler marked their 80th birthdays by raising money for charity.
The couple from Hinckley held a joint birthday celebration for family and close friends at their local pub, The Flintlock on Roston Drive.
Presents were banned but the pair, who have been married for 58 years, invited guests to make donations to their chosen cause instead.
More than £200 was collected for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance service, with contributions continuing after the big day.
A presentation cheque for the amount was handed over to charity represenatives Anne Fisher and Connor Francis.
The couple have thanked everyone who contributed and who helped to make their big day so special.
