Game of Thrones auction boosts hospice

-

A MOUNTAIN of Game of Thrones memorabilia has been auctioned off to amass cash for Rainbows children’s hospice. Donated by Joe Dempsie who plays hunky blacksmith Gendry in the hit TV series, the stuff went under the hammer at a Nottinghamshire pub. Among the items were an exclusive scarf, backpack and winter jacket donated by crew members and not available to purchase. A book, Inside Game of Thrones, signed by more than 30 cast members including Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was also donated and is listed for sale on eBay attracting bids from all over the country and even from the United States. Regular at the pub, the Punch Bowl, and a family friend of Dempsie is Michelina Primrose, part of the hospice care team and she approached the actor for help. Dempsie, who has always supported the hospice, said: “Pretty much everyone in the East Midlands is aware of Rainbows and what fantastic work they do in the most difficult of circumstances. Michelina’s a family friend to boot, so I was obviously keen to help in any way I could. I’m stuck filming in London at the moment, so unfortunately wasn’t able to attend the event on Friday in person. With that in mind, this was the least I could do - and if the items raise some much needed funds, it’ll be for the best possible cause.”
