Free trees and shrubs

LANDOWNERS, schools and community groups across Hinckley and the wider area can get free trees and shrubs. Leicestershire County Council has renewed its partnership with the Woodland Trust to increase the number of trees and hedges in the region. Schemes available through Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council include targeting tree disease packs, with a total of 45 broadleaf trees available. There is also a MORE hedges pack, with a minimum of 100m of new hedgerow, and a MORE woods pack, with free trees and shrubs starting at 0.5 ha (1.25 acres). The deadline for applications for the tree disease packs is October 13, and the items must be collected by November 20. Applications for MORE hedges and MORE woods packs must be submitted by January 2018. Register for the packs by emailing plant@ woodlandtrust.co.uk with your name and contact details, quoting ‘Leicestershire County Council trees’, or call 0330 333 5303.
