Shooting allowed at camera club display

-

BUDDING David Baileys and wannabe Rankins have the chance to hone their skills at a photography exhibition in Hinckley.

Earl Shilton Camera Club will be mounting a display of members’ work at the Atkins Building on Lower Bond Street from Monday September 25 to Saturday September 30.

On the evening of Wednesday September 27 the club will be setting up a fully-lit studio, with backdrops and a model, and inviting members of the public to try their hand at producing a portrait.

People need to take their own photographic equipment and will be invited to make a donation of £1 towards club funds.

The exhibition, which will also include a display of vintage photographic equipment, will be open from 10am until 3.30pm each day, with the evening photo shoot session running from 7pm until 9.30pm.

It is being sponsored by Earl Shilton Town Council, which gave a community grant to the thriving club that holds regular meetings in its home town.

Club secretary John Smith said: “The Camera Club has achieved much success in recent years having won several local competitions.

“Members’ talents are varied and through workshops and lectures the standard of the club has improved as can be seen in the many prints that will be on view.”

Visitors to the exhibition, which is the third to be mounted by the club in as many years, will be invited to vote for their favourite photograph on display. Admission free.
